    Her proper given name was Clara, but she used Calla.

    She entered Mankato Normal School in 1892 (signed 29 Aug 1892) and graduated in 1896. Her diploma was endorsed 26 Aug 1898 and 15 Jun 1903. At the time of her graduation her home address was given as N. Minneapolis.

    In 1900 she was living in Alexandria, Douglas County, in the household of Oscar Robards, Jr. She was probably teaching school at this time.

    On 5 Oct 1901 She purchased 162.14 acres of land in Chilgren Township, Beltrami County (later Lake of the Woods County) as a homestead, Book 3, p. 133, CE1683, Book 119, p. 133. The evidences were sent up 4 Jan 1905 and date of patent was 30 Jun 1905. It was recorded in Vol. 321-388-388, Bureau of Land Management. The location was described as: North half of S.W. quarter of section 18 of T. 162, R34. S.E. quarter of S.W. quarter of secton 18 of T.162, R34. S.W. quarter of S.E. quarter of section 18 of T.162, R34.

    Mrs. H. Jones 84, Succumbs
    Mr. [sic] Harley W. Jones, 84, a former Menasha resident, died unexpectedly Wednesday night at Black River Falls.
    Mrs. Jones, who was born Nov. 16, 1875 [sic] in St. Cloud [sic], Minn., was the mother of Mrs. Lyle Leatherman, 353 First st., Menasha. She came to Menasha in 1921, and was an active member of the First Congregational church, and the Menasha chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.
    Mr. Jones had been owner of the Menasha Ice and Fuel Co., and manager of the Pankratz Ice and Fuel Co., before moving to Black River Falls.
    Survivors, in addition to Mrs. Leatherman, are the husband, two daughters, Mrs. John Tongren, Benton Harbor, Mich., and Mrs. Elsworth [sic], Wilmington, Del., and ten grandchildren.
    Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced by the Ness funeral home of Black River Falls. Interment will be in Black River Falls.

    Menasha -- Mrs. Harley W. Jones, 84, Black River Falls, a former Menasha resident, died Wednesday night at Black River Falls. Born at St. Cloud [sic], Minn., she had lived in Menasha from 1921 until last Ocotber [sic] when she moved to Black River Falls and burial will be there.
    Funeral arrangements are pending at the Ness Funeral home at Black River Falls and burial will be there.
    Survivors are the husband; three daughters, Mrs. Lyle Leatherman, 353 First street, Menasha. Mrs. John Tongren, Benton Harbor, Mich., and Mrs. or [sic] Ellsworth Ellingboe, Wilmington, Del.; and 10 grandchildren.

    (Medical):She had Parkinson's Disease.
