Han ble med foreldrene til Goodhue CO., Valdres Pioneer Tales from "Budstikken" May 1971 page 12 It is a hundred years since the Valdres people first invaded what was to become Wang Township, Renville county Minnesota in a mass. Other settlers bad come earlier. Christian 0. Narvestad, Hans Grotvedt, and Theodore Rongerud, three brothers; together with Hans Gunderson and Christian Engebretson had come in June, 1867- The first Valdreses apparently were Thomas Christofferson Lerhol and Anders Thomason Kjersten who came from Vang. Valdres in 1868. But it was not until 1871 the great migration started and it continued until they filled the whole countryside. Among the early Valdreser were Andrew E. Rogen, Ole Halvorson Holien (Skalberg), George Halvorson Holien (Skalberg), Peter Iverson, En dre' K. Holien, Iver Oie, Iver Nystuen, Helge Evanson (Holien), H. Ellingboe, Andrew T. Ellingboe, Tosten Olson Hamre, Siver Guttormson Strand, Ole 0. Strand, Ove Strand. H. H. Weflen, Ingebret Thompson, George C. Heen, Christopher Gulbrandson He en, Mrs. Mary Ostrem Boe, Ole Thompson Grover, Gullik Weflen. Trond I. Ellingboe, Erick Erickson Viken, Trond Engebretson, Engebret Engebretson, Knute Weflen, Hans 0. Berg, Ole Christopherson Soine, Ole 0. Belsem, Knud Knudson Viken, Gunder 0. Gj evre, Ole 0. Grov, Thomas K. Weflen, Evert M. Strand, the Loes, Thorkelsons and others. The township was organized on July 28, 1875 and the first election was held at the home of Elling Johnson. Elling was elected chairman; Ole C. Soine and 0. T. Grover, supervisors; Nils Norman was elected clerk but did not qualify so A. T. Ellingb oe was appointed to the post which he held for half a century. At the first regular election C. A. Evenson was elected chairman; Erick Viken and 0. T. Grover, supervisor; A. T. Ellingboe, clerk, Elling Johnson, assessor; P. L.Brevig, treasurer ; K. K. Viken, justice of the peace; and 0. K. Williams, constable. The township was named Wang in honor of Vang, Valdres, as is also the local church, which recently celebrated its 85th anniversary. Throughout the century the Valdres have been in a majority in the township and continue to be so today. Not only are the Loes, Solnes, Ellingboes, Haugens, Lerohlst Strands. etc.. Valdres but many names like Dembroten. Nar-vestad, etc. represen t half-breed Veldreses. These pioneers came with oxen and covered wagons shortly after the Indian uprisings were over. They still had to fight mosquitos, grasshoppers, prairie fires, drouth, and blizzards. Throughout the century the Valdres have been in the majorit y in township offices and continue to be so toda

Han overtok Uvdal i 1810. da lånte han 600 rd av Helge Leine som han tilbakebetalte i 1821. 7.3.1831 overlot Ivar gården til eldste sønnen Trond, men han skulle ha rett til å drive halve gården i 8 år. Etter en ny kontrakt fra 1833 skulle ha livaure som svarte til 3 tønner stritt bygg og han skulle bruke bl.a. et mål øverst i Tune åkeren , 3 åkerstykker ovenfor denne og forlandet omkring. Dessuten skulle han ha rett til å rydde 1/2 mål åker på lille Løkketeigen. Han skulle også ha halve fiske i Tyin. Høsten 1842 fikk han også lov til å sette opp en stue til seg og barna fra andre ekteskap. Dette huset skulle de ha rett til å flytte. Hvis de ønsket det.

Han var meget velstående, og fikk også mye i medgift da han giftet seg andre gang med datteren til "Rike Tørpin", Kjersti T Torpe. Han var første gang gift med Marit H Svien fra Leine (1754-1797) ingen av barna deres levde opp. 1812 betalte han 1/ 4% skatt for en rekke pantebrev, bl.a fra helge Kasa på 700 rd, fra Roland Nordland på 500 rd Øystein Bø på 600 rd, Ola Kattevold på 450 rd. Boet etter ham var uvanlig stort på 2400 rd netto.
