He is called Jon Nilsen Skak til JOMFRULAND. He is mentioned in 1513 and 1529. His wife was Gunhild Staffansdatter. Beside Nils they probably had a daughter called Kirsten. She was married to Oluf TEISTE. In some sources she is called Kirsten Skak til KAUPANGER.

Nils Tormodsen

He is called Nils Tormodsen til FOSS and mentioned in 1482 and 1514. He was married to Aasa Jonsdatter SKAK. The Skak family is written about in other articles, so Sollied is quite short about this branch here.


Jon Nilsen SKAK

He is called Jon Nilsen Skak til JOMFRULAND. He is mentioned in 1513 and 1529. His wife was Gunhild Staffansdatter. Beside Nils they probably had a daughter called Kirsten. She was married to Oluf TEISTE. In some sources she is called Kirsten Skak til KAUPANGER.


Nils Jonsen SKAK

He is called Nils Jonsen Skak til ULEFOSS and KAUPANGER. He is mentioned in documents from 1540 and 1553. He was married to Adelus Finnsdatter ROSTVIG. She was a daughter of Finn Hansen ROSTVIG and Margrete Pedersdatter (d.1582).


Christen Jensen til KAUPANGER

His origin is not known, but perhaps he was from Denmark. Some sources interpret that he was of noble family. His name is never seen with the LYSTRUP surname. Nevertheless this name which his son used, may be from him. Christen was the bailiff in Sogn from abt. 1566. He still lived in 1599, but died a short time after that. His wife, whose christian name is not 100% sure, was married twice. When she married Christen Jensen abt.1567 she was a widow after the former bailiff Christopher Andersen. Christen and Anne had at least three children: Christopher til KAUPANGER; Nils bailiff in Southern Hordaland; Skak.


Skak Christensen LYSTRUP

He is mentioned in documents for the first time in 1603. He then lived at the Kaupanger farm, but in 1611 he farmed at Vestrem. Vestrem is quite near Kaupanger however. In a survey from 1617 he is seen to be quite comfortably off. He owned these farms or at least parts of them: Kaupanger, Vestrem, Olstad, Hovland, Espeseter, Bermål in Sogn, and Bjerke, Ulven, Velang, Bringen in Hedmark (Eastern Norway). Skak died at Vestrem in 1634. The name of his name is not known quite sure, but she probably was a Inger or Inga. Three sons are known: Christen (abt.1608-1693); Gjertrud (d.1638); Anne; Torbjørn; Laurits (to Hovland farm); Oluf.


Oluf Skaksen LYSTRUP

He was born at Vestrem farm in Kaupanger abt. 1618 and died in 1699. He was married to Karen Jonsdatter who died 1658. He then married again, but her name is not known. However she was a widow after Jens Nilsen BRATT. Oluf and Karen had a lot of daughters. These are known: Karen; Marte; Aagot; Anne; Bodil; Inger; Marie Olufsdatter (LYSTRUP) who married Gulbrand Jensen BRATT.
