It is a reasonable proposal that Benjamin, John and Amaziah are children of William and Rebecca. This is suggested strongly in a typescript genealogy by Prentiss Glazier (compiler) entitled "Palmatier-Parmentier Family (Dutchess Co., N.Y.), Sarasota, Florida, 1976. The principal source for this work was the early Dutch Church records in the Vosburgh Collection of register transcriptions, which are available on microfilm from LDS and in the Library of the New England Historic Genealogical Society. On page 8, six children are listed for William Palmatier and Rebecca Elsworth. Only two of their children were recorded, but the compiler suggests 6 children and more unnamed. He states that this group favored the Palmerton rendition of the name. Joshua "Palmerton" is listed as the 4th child and John "Palmerton" is listed as the 6th child. Amaziah and Benjamin are not included, but if John is truly the son of William Palmatier, then his brothers Amaziah and Benjamin, as listed in the Revolutionary War records, must also be sons of William.
