Marilyn Holien Ettesvold skriver: "Ole married Minnie Reinholt of Maynard in 1902. By this time, Minnesota land was at a premium and those with pioneer blood were looking to north and west for further settlement. In 1905, Ole and his brother, Edwi n, headed for North Dakota with Henry Sloan (svogeren) and a cousin, Ole Heen. The filed on homesteads to the north of Hebron, built temporary shacks, and then returned for their possessions. They moved their belongings by boxcar and Ole's wife and sister Minnie and Bertha, followed on a passenger train. Bertha filed an a claim in Mercer County and her brothers built a shack for her to.

In the winter, they harvested ice from the lake and kept the blocks, buried in sawdust, in a big, wonderful-smelling building. Fishing was good, summer and winte r, and Minnie made marvelous pickled white fish. In season, there was venison, as deer abounded in the area.

Several years later, Ole sold the lake shore property to Mr. Reiff, who started a resort (Pelican Beach Resort), and Ole and Minnie built a new home across the road. They had a few cows, chickens, and horses and Ole did work for the "cottage-peopl e" who were beginning to populate the shoreline. Fiddle music was often heard coming from their house, as Ole loved to entertain guests with the old time melodies. A soft spoken gentle woman, Minnie bustled about her home and garden and kept up const ant chatter. Mother Berith had been in failing health and was
