33751 | We don't know much about Jon, but there is a lot that indicates that he came from Storekvåle. His daughter Anne was supposed to have been born there. Kattevold had been a large farm, that earlier was divided into two main farms -- Øvre 45/ and Nedre 44/. These were later split up into smaller parts. The lower farm (Nedre) was divided into Nigarden Myrejordet Sygarden or Burtigarden and Skeie. Jon T. Kattewoll (his name was written thus) owned Kattevold 44/ in 1528, but he was named at the same time at Kvåle in Vestre Slidre. It is likely, therefore, that he had not moved to Kattevold 44/ until a little later. He may have given the farm to his son Trond about 1560. It is possible that there were already two farms here before 1600 and that Asbjørn J. Kattewoll, who was on one of them (Sygarde or Burtigarden) was also a son of Jon Kvåle/Kattevoll. This Asbjørn was a juror in 1591 and was present at the ceremony when Prince Christian IV was crowned king in Oslo in 1610. This shows the kind of position Kattevold had in that time. There is plenty of evidence for a connection with Storekvåle. The fact that the important Dorthe Kolding, widow of Jørgen Greel, married into the Kattevold family is also evidence that the people at Kattevold were upper class. | (KVÅLE) KATTEVOLD, Jon Trondson (I4952)

33783 | When Ingrid became a widow after the death of Ola Endreson Reien, she married Torger Knutsen Vindingstand. She was often called Magistad because her first husband Ola Reien also owned Magistad and lived there much of the time. Ingrid and Torgeir had a son Knut (1665-1717) who got Reien 51/1 while his brother Eivind got Vindingstad, but when Knut died in 1717 without heirs, his siblings should have shared Vindingstad. Tore Ey wrote that the settlement of the estate of Knut Torgeirson was held on the 19th of February 1718. When the older brother, Eivind, inherited Venningstad, it was agreed that Ion and Johannes should have Reie and each farm half of it. Eivind Venningstad didn't want to agree to the contract. He was now the eldest of the siblings and insisted that he had the best right to Reie, so he sued his brothers and eventually was judged to receive half of the farms. Johannes kept his part, which he farmed te rest of his life. Johannes was brought before the court because he killed his sevant boy, Thomas Olson Grunke, but he was freed without punishment because of temporary insanity ("tå di han inkji alla tie skulde væra sjele rettig tå seg"). 1664, 20 år. 33786 | When Oluf died, Birgit (or Bergit) married her neighbor Jon Jøgerson from Øvre Kvåle and he worked both farms until Birgit's son Jul could take over. 1664, 23 år bruka 1 hud i Kvåle, gift (2) Jon Jøgerson Kvåle, født ikr 1630?, på Øvre Kvåle, død 1698, på Øvre Kvåle, 11 okt 1698, Skifte på Store-Kvåle-Øvre. 33792 | When Wang Township, Renville County, Minnesota, was organized on July 28, 1875, A.T. Ellingboe was appointed town clerk. He continued to hold that office for 40 years. He was treasurer of the Hawk Creek Farmers' Mutual Insurance Company. He also became the postmaster for the New Lisbon postoffice, keeping the office in his home in section 4, being postmaster for eighteen years, when rural route No. 1 out of Maynard was established. On September 3, 1907, he was appointed carrier. He did not, however, serve, and his son, Tron A. Ellingboe succeeded him. He served also as a census enumerator. The records of the Valdres Samband regarding his immigration do not agree with the Vang church records that show him emigrating with his parents and siblings in 1862. The error was that the wrong year (1860)was entered in the Samband records. The ship Victor Emmanuel, with Captain Kuhnle, left Bergen on May 1, 1862 and arrived at the Port of Quebec June 20, 1862. | ELLINGBØE, Anders Throndson (I4409)
