FERDINAND RUMERY CALLED SUDDENLY BY DEATH THURSDAY
Funeral Service For Aged Glencoe Farmer Held Saturday
Ferdinand Rumery, 73, passed into eternal sleep at his farm home south of Glencoe at 3 o'clock Thursday morning, April 27th. He had not been ill and had worked about the yard the previous day doing his usual chores. That night however he complained of a severe headache and after taking a headache tablet appeared to be resting comfortably. Shortly after 2 o'clock his daughter awakened and went to his bedside to see how he was resting. Becoming alarmed over his condition she called Dr. Kenney but he had passed away before the doctor arrived. He had attained the age of 73 years, 6 months and 5 days.
The deceased was born Oct. 22, 1885, at Two Rivers, Wisconsin, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Rumery. At the age of 3 years he came to Nebraska with his parents, who were among the earliest settlers in the Oleyen community. He grew to manhood in that community.
On June 17, 1889 he was united in marriage with Miss Emma Hoffman at Oleyen. For a time they resided on a farm in that community, later moving to the farm south east of Dodge which was his residence until his death. Mrs. Rumery died Feb. 14, 1937.
He is survived by ten children. Three children had preceeded him to the Great Beyond. The surviving children are (Ida) Mrs. Perry Loveless, Richland; Anna at home, (Margaret Mrs. Albert Emanuel, Fort Collins, Colo; Jacob, Mission, Tex.; (Martha) Mrs. Patrick Emanuel, (Ruby) Mrs. Hy. Figgner, Clarkson; Ferdinand at home; (Gertrude) Mrs. Raymond Kassmeier, Dodge; and Blanch at home. Alton Hoffman, Moberly Mo. and a grand-daughter Clara Emanuel, Fremont who were raised by the family also survive him. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Cora Snyder, Omaha, 31 grand children and 3 great-grand children.
Funeral services were held Saturday morning with short prayer service at the home and mass in the St. Joseph church at 9:30. He was laid to rest beside his wife in the family lot in St. Joseph cemetery south of town. [8]
