- Referred to as the Cooper, indicating his occupation. He owned the oldest house that is now standing in Groveland, MA on King St. It was built in 1676. He was received into the Bradford Church on 24 Apr 1720. He was one of the committee to build the first meetinghouse in Groveland and was also one of the first 101 members of the new church organized at Groveland, Massachusettson 7 Jun 1727. He died very suddenly being abroad the greater part of the day. He was called Joseph Jr. until the death of his father and then called Joseph Sr. He was a soldier 1710-1711.

Member Number 15. Joseph Hardy, from First Church Bradford Jun 7, 1727. Son of John and Mary Hardy, born in Bradford Feb 3, 1674. Married Mary Burbank (60) Apr 6, 1698. He was one of the committee to build the first meetinghouse in this parish. Died in Bradford Jan 24, 1747, aged seventy-two years, eleven months and twenty-one days. Buried in this cemetery. [3]
