  Notes	He served in the French war, responded to the Lexington Alarm. Being unable to give further active service, he hired a substitute and took care of the family of the soldier. His house was a retreat for sick and wounded soldiers -- out of thirty that he cared for one winter, twenty-eight recovered to return to the army in the spring. He was born in Norfolk, Connecticut, and died there, 1814. His sons Isaac and Daniel both served in the Revolution.
