- Han hadde 2 barn uten om ekteskapet, før han flyttet til "Nordlandet" (Vestlandet) og giftet seg der. Clarine (Skip) Andersen:
Syver Jørgensen Deres børn 4 (at Lokrim in 1801) But my concern is about a Sjur Jørgensen Lokrheim (also called Sjur Valdres) who came to US and did not like it at all. He wrote back to Norway to Bishop Jacob Neumann in Bergen in 1838 that there was not enough food or clothes here (which probably was very true, at least in the beginning). He is also called Sjur J. Haaeim from Granvin in Hardanger. Probably is the same one as you say he went to West Norway. He caused quite a stir over here with the Vossings in Chicago who refuted what he wrote back to Norway. But he was able to return to Norway in 1841 and published a statement against emigration called "Oplysninger om forholdene i nordamerika, især forsaavidt de dehen udvandrede norskes skjæbne angaaer". Are you familiar with the article? Anyway I told my Dad that his uncle was a trouble-maker and he got a laugh out of that. But of course I want to make sure the Sjur that did this was really our uncle. When I mail the things, i will include what I have on Sjur, Endre, and Erik.
