Married Miss Matteson in 1859 and they soon came west and settled in Wright County He enlisted and served 5 years in Company K, 5th Iowa Calvalry in the Civil War. Afterwards he reenlisted to fight the Indians. He had lived on his farm in Chatham 41 years. Two years ago his wife died. He then sold the farm and moved to Maple Lake Village where he died after several weeks of sickness caused by kidney trouble. He was a brother of Otis Washburn of Buffalo. He left 3 daughters and 3 sons, 33 grand children and 10 great grandchildren. Rev. Selie conducted the funeral at Maple Lake last Saturday. Member of the G.A.R. from Annandale, Maple Lake, Monticello and Buffalo attended. He was buried here in Buffalo at Lakeview Cemetery by the G.A.R. Post of Buffalo."

If Miles W. moved from Exeter to New Haven in 1848, William Wallace was probably born in Exeter rather New Haven, as stated in obituary.
