Obituary: "The funeral of Mrs. Emmergene Washburn was held at the Chatham home Saturday, Rev. J.H. Sellie officiating, and interment was in Lake View Cemetery, Buffalo. Emmergene Matteson was born in Oswego County, NY on March 18 1844 and was marreid to Wallace W. Washburn Dec. 23, 1859. They came to Buffalo in 1860 and since her husband's discharge from the army in 1866 they have lived on their Chatham farm. She was the mother of 11 children, 8 of who, besides her husband, survive her."
