Notes |
- Bøye Kattevold wrote that she came from South Kettevold, but that is incorrect. Through her marriage she came to Kattevold, but her origins were at Kvam. Her father did own a large part of Kattevold and may have farmed there, and perhaps is came from there, but when Marthe was born, he farmed and lived on Kvam. The name Bjørn is found at Kattevold many generations before this. It was Marthe's granddaughter Gjartrud Bøe, daughter of Mads Kattevold and Kjersti Gram, who had a daughter with her stepfather Eivind Tune:
According to Bøye Kattevold in "Gamalt frå Vang", after Gjartrud's father died, his widow married a very wealthy farmer named Eivind Knutson Tune in 1722. He moved to Bø and farmed it with his stepson Nils. He had no children with his wife, but his stepdaughter Gjartru had a child and no one would acknowledge being the father. One day in the fall Eivind and Gjartru, with the small baby, were missing. The old folks said that they had tied themselves together and threw themselves from the highest cliff into the lake by Hamar. Their shoes were buried on the beach nearby. This happed on the 23rd of November 1736. Since Gjartrud had committed incest and they concluded that she committed suicide, her estate was given to the government. Her part of Bø, 3 1/28 skinn of inheritence, became state property until the middle of the 1800s, for a long time the only clear crown property in Vang. Her belongings were sold at auction on the 28th of September 1741 for 5 riksdollars and 3 ort.
