  Notes	Johannes, son of the earlier owner of Nordland Sygarden, moved from Givre to Nordland in the spring of 1706, after an agreement with Nils Johannesson dated 22 Oct 1705. He was mentally ill and set fire to the farm so that all of the buildings on his own farm and his neighbor's farm were burnt to the ground, with crops, six cattle, and two people, including his own daughter, whose name is not known. His wife's brother, Ola T. Kjøs, took up the case against Johannes in the fall of 1719. In the court, Johannes admitted that he had carried a ladle of hot coals, but not by accident or negligence, or deliberately in his deranged state, set the farm ablaze. He was believed to be of sound mind and the judge condemned him to a lifetime sentence in Akershus prison, when none of his relatives and friends would guarantee that he could be kept so secure that the village people could feel safe. The claimants wanted compensation from his real property. At the fall assembly in 1713, an official letter was read to ask the village people if they would allow him to go in irons from farm to farm, but they didn't agree because they were afraid that he might cause bad luck for house and home, people and animals. But they agreed to send him food, as soon as he was taken into secure custody. We know the name of only one child, Andris, who released his rights to 14 skinn that he received in inheritance, with a deed of conveyence (24 Feb 1730) of 12 1/2 skinn from Lars Toresson (Tørisson) Nordland and 1 1/2 skinn from Ørjan Knutsson for 226 amd 32 riks dollars, and 49 riks dollars for the house that Lars owned, altogether 307 riks dollars.
