    Notes
    • He was married to the only daughter of the parish priest, Ove Ovesson Wangensteen. They were to have inherited the farm, when he died, while the other children received their shares according to the price that was settled upon in probate. But the church sexton Anders Gront and Ola Kristoffersson Berge had bought the farm from Hans Larsson, the son of the priest Lars Wangensteen in Oddernes. Gront, for 600 riks dollars on 13 Sep 1718. He seemed to have farmed his part of the farm for awhile. Ingvald intended to get the inheritance of the farm and sued the other two purchasers. He received support for his position by a judicial decision on 21 Oct 1720. Sexton Gront was to have the farm cleaned up by the next moving day for payment of 300 riks dollars from Ingvald. Ola had agreed amicably to take the money. Ingvald was unable to continue farming because, on 14 Aug 1721, he was first cut in the left hand and then stabbed to death by Hans Hendrich Urdahl at his home on Stele. The sword went straight through his body. Ingvald with unarmed and the judicial decision was that it was not an accident. At probate in October the farm was found to be of gross worth 827 riks dollars, of this 600 riks dollars for the 10 1/2 "skinn" in the garden, but the net worth was only 228 riks dollars. There were a number of obligations that had to be paid, for example 18 riks dollars for 9 barrels of grain. The largest claims were from Ola Kristoffersson for 200 riks dollars, Marit Hermundstad for 160 riks dollars, his brother-in-law the parish priest Jonas Leirdal 150 riks dollars, and sexton Gront 64 riks dollars for the house that he had built on the farm. The estate owned some personal property at Tynjo, at the home of Ingvald's father, and the guardians were the Leirdal priest and the local magistrate Per Persson Hjermann at Stødno in Lærdal. Ingvald and Margrete had two children, Ove and Ingeleiv. [1]
