- Moses and Sally removed to Templeton, Massachusetts, soon after their marriage. Here eight of their children were born. He was one of the Minute Men who to the call at the battle of Lexington and he remained in the army afterwards. In 1787 he removed to Grafton, Vermont, where his wife died. In 1794 he removed to Oneida County, New York, and settled in the Sauquoit Valley, at a place that is now called Sauquoit, eight miles south of Utica. Here he married Anna Buckingham, by whom he had four children.
Among the grandchildren of Moses and Sally was Asa Gray (b. 18 Nov 1810) who became a distinguished biologist and professor at Harvard College. He authored the book "Flora of North America." [2]
