This was bounded on the north by land of James Ambler, on the south by land of Amos Cutler and on the east by land of James Mott. On the 29th of April 1786 he purchased from James and Ebenezer Ambler, for 40 pounds, 110 acres of land that was the second division of the right of Josiah Emwood. His house stood near the notch in the mountain on the westerly part of the farm that was later owned by John McConnell. Samuel married John Ambler's daughter Mary and moved to Huntington, where he died. His widow Mary also died there. They had two children, both born in Brandon.
