Holmes in his "Ancestral Heads of New England Families," 1620-1700 (1923), states that Daniel Scofield, grandson of Sir Cuthbert Scofield of Scofield Manor, England, was born in Rochdale, Lancashire, England, and came to Ipswich, Massachusettsin 1639, and that he removed to Stamford, CT, in 1641, where he died in 1670. See notes for Cuthbert Scofield, who may not have been the grandfather of Richard and Daniel.
