  Notes	From "A Scofield Survey" compiled by Harriet Scofield and Henry Burdette Whipple, 1972: "Some searchers have stated that Daniel and Richard Scofield were grandsons of Cuthbert Scofield of Rochdale Parish, Lancashire, England. There is no evidence of either in the parish records nor in "The History of the Parish of Rochdale" by Col. Henry Fishwick, F.S.A. (1988), who carefully takes note of the exploits and misadventures of Cuthbert and his two illegitimate (and only) sons, Alexander born 1588, and John born 1590. There is no evidence in the parish records of any Daniel Scofield having been born there at this time. There are several Richards, but none born in 1613, and none was a descendant of Cuthbert."
