    Notes
    • She may have been called Margrethe, but it is also possible that her name was Sigrun or Sigfrid. She probably had a strong position in the circle around King Håkon V Magnusson, because she is named often in the histories on an equal footing with the king's women. It was possibly that it was the king himself who arranged for the marriage between her and his district governor in Valdres, Asle. The seems likely because of the close family relationship between the king and Asle. She was usually named as the sister of Sigvat Leirol, the knight whose shield design was taken by Vang as the community's coat of arms. Sigvat, or Sigvart, Leirol was a knight and had his estate at the Leirol farms. He was a member of the state council under King Håkon V Håkonson and participated in the signing of the peace treaty with Denmark 17 July 1309. He is said to have been buried under the old stave church in Vang that now stands in Risengebirge in Poland. His shield hung in the church, together with another shield, whose owner is unknown, until the church was moved and went together with the old church to Prussia. Sigvat was the district governor in Valdres and had participated in making many important judicial decisions both in Østlandet and Vestlandent. After 1339 his name no longer appears in the records. A legend says that he died in a peasant rebellion in 1340. But another legend says that he fell at Riddar-svaet in Synshagen on the West side of Vangsmjøsa in a fight with knights who lived on Syndrøl at that time.
