Notes |
- He settled on the farm Semelenge in Vestre Slidre about 1424 when he married into the farm family. He is named in 1451 at about the age of 60. He was probably a widower when he married the much younger Magdalena. It was common that older men married young women who could act as stepmothers for children from an earlier marriage. It was the high mortality in childbirth that made this necessary. In an official document dated 7 Jan 1451, Fartegn gave a receipt for inheritence from Gjartrud, the aunt of his wife Magdalena. It seems that Magdalena and Fartegn also had a son Amund Fartegnson. He was at Holden, which was split out from the Semelenge property. Amund's son was presumably the well known judge in Nidaros, Eirik Amundsøn.
