Notes |
- He was in king Håken VI's administration (court) as finance minister and later judge. He was a very popular man, both with the king and the people. He abstained from an invitation to be a knight in favor of his son Einride. Torstein Rudi has writen about "Losnaætti" in Valdres in "TVH" 1920 (5. Årgang): "On Sulenøy in Outer Sogn there has been a family estate since ancient times. It is reasonable that the same family has been there from the time that the first sogningane setteled in Sogn. After Harald Hårfagre the family was the most powerful in Sogn and achieved for themselves three to four hundred years more among the formost in Norway. Erlend was born about 1335 and died in 1407. There were probably very few men in the land who were richer and more well regarded than him. He was traditional in everything. He didn't like knighthood and refused to take on the knights battles. It also seems that Erlend was obligated to the powerful family at Tolga which was also descended from the old royal families. (From Ceciliadotter to Håkon Håkonson)." It was he who, from what can be determined, was the last royal councilor at Losna. He moved from Losna when the black death came. After that the fortress, church and everthing at Losna fell into decay. Erlend became the progenitor of the high nobility of the Losna family.
