Notes |
- The first time Sæbu is mentioned is in 1311. At that time the priests and Sæbu farmers were in a bitter fight about a parcel of land. Between 1341 and 1428 it appears clear from a number of old letters that a family circle called "Pål Eriksonsætten" ruled here. In 1341 Mattis Torgisøn abstained from the "løbol" in Sæbu, which he had mortgaged to Eivind Skafhelle, in favor of Asle Kolbjørnsen. In 1403 Mathis Torgilson and Eirik Ulfhedinson took a mortgage on 8 "løbol" in Nordre Sæbu, because he lived on Hande and unlawfully had taken 4 "løbol" from Pål's children at Rogne. In 1430 Guri Aslesdatter, with her husband Eirik Ulfhedinson's agreement, sold 10 lobøl to Håvard Arneson, who had owned a part of Nedre Sæbu earlier. Håvard was most likely Eirik's and Guri's son-in-law. [1]
