  Notes	From a letter to sister Cora, dated April 8, 1921: "Received your letter yesterday and will answer your questions as you wish me to. Even if it is against my religion. (Dates for wife Irene Lundberg and her parents - captured elsewhere) I enlisted April 18, 1917 at Mason City Iowa In Co. D, 2nd Iowa Infantry sent to Camp Cody Deming N. Mex there was transferred to Co. B 125th Machine Gun Battalion. Left Camp Cody Aug. 15th 1918 for Camp Dix New Jersey. Left for Overseas 1st of September 1918. Landed in Liverpool England in 18 days spent one week there and sent to Bordeaux, France. Stationed at Bordeaux until Nov 1, 1918 transferred to Le Mans with Headquarters Troop 34th Div. Stationed there until December 20, when I was transferred again to the Presidential Guard Co. in Paris. Served there until February 15th when I returned to the U S. on the boat "George Washington" and landed the 25th of February at New York. Stationed at Camp Merritt New Jersey until the time of my discharge March 31, 1919. Give my occupation as a darn poor Civil Engineer striving for a job as such. Hope this is satisfactory you may be able to glean a little information from it if you can discipher it. Tell everyone of the family hello from us. Love Aldy" Aldy was 6'2" and was, therefore, selected with other strapping specimens for President Wilson's Honor Guard. He and a classmate decided to enlist before graduating from High School, so he and his friend received their diplomas early. Sup't. of asphalt div., Reith-Reilly Const. Co. (South Bend?) from 1940 until death.
