    Han bygde Raudfjordheim turisthytte ved Bygdin i 1869, sammen med broren Ola, men overtok den etter hvert alene. Han kjøpte Lykkja i 1857. Det Knut først og fremst er kjent for er jakt. Han var en svær fangstmann som drev alle slags former for jak t og kunne alle slags knep, enten det var storviltjakt, snarefangt, reisnjakt eller småviltjakt. Han skjøt minst 6 bjørner. Mange av dem i Vang Knut ble kontaktet når det ble kjent at det var slagbjørner I området. Han ble også brukt til å fjerne ørnereir I fjellene. Det var penger å tjene på dette og Knut ble etterhvert en forholdsvis holden mann, skriver Beitrusten. Han drev også som turistfører etterhvert som turisttrafikken økte. Den turisthytta han bygde inne ved Bygdin, ble også utvidet og heter nå Bygdin hotell.
