    Johannes delte gården i to like bruk, da han den 18.6.1872 ga skjøte til eldste sønnen, Knut, på halvparten (109/2) for 500 spd og livaure. Denne delen kalles Hålidalen i dag. 2 år senere ga han resten av gården til sønnen Ola.

Jon M Nertrøst (40/1), Sigrid (1845-samme år), Torstein (1846- ) fehandler, bodde på Kvien i 1875, senere til Randkleiv i Ringebu, Sigrid (1849-1885) gm Eivind Torgeirsson Hålien (109/5), Guri (1852--1888) UG, Thomas (1955- ) gikk underoffiserskolen i 1875 og dro til USA (Ammerherst, Wisconsin i 1880) , Ola (1858-1921) gårdsarbeider, UG, Berit (1864 -10 uker), Ragnhild (1866- ) dro til broren i USA i 1892. Thomas gjorde handelsforlik med eldst sønnen Ola i 1866 og gav ham skjøte på gården i 1873 for 1200 spd., men tok forbehold om å drive gården sammen med Ola og ha halve skogsarealet så lenge han ville. Han fikk føderåd først 1.8..1891: 8 tn bygg, 6 settinger rug, 24 kg godt "heimevirka" flesk, noe garn og lær, føding av 4 kyr, 8 småfe og 1 kvige eller kalv, mm.
