    Han kjøpte Bekkelund i 1897 for 800 kroner. han var postbud i mange år og fikk derfor tilnavnet "Gamle Posten". Han hadde postruta fra Heggenes om dale til Skjel og Beito to ganger i uka. Det var en lang og tiung rute. Han var litt av en orgina l og det går ennå mange hermer etter ham i bygda.Han hadde det nokså trangt på slutten, og gikk rundt på gårdene og tagg. Da han ga gården til datteren, bygde han seg et lite skrøpelig hus på Jonstølbergo under 3/24.
