    Det var antakelig han som ryddet Gjerdingé omkring 1850. Moren hans, som i folketellingen 1865 heter Gro Olsdtr, mens Beitrusten kaller henne Guri Olsdtr Hedalen, flyttet med ham til Gjerdingé. I folketellingen for 1801 er hun oppførst som Groe Ol sdtr Hedalen
