    I bygdeboka for Hafslo skriver Laberg på side 86 at soknepresten Jens Ørbech bare hadde 3 barn: Christine gift med Christoffer Munthe, Søren som døde ung og Hans som døde i 1711. Men på side 272 i samme bok skriver han om en datter til som het Kri stine og som giftet seg med bergensborgeren Lars Walter og kom til Lomheim.

    Han var utdannet teolog, men overtok godset på Urnes og drev det. Han var først gift med Alida Katarine Kaas, gift med oberstløytnant Johan Hartvig Kaas på Kjørnes i Sogndal. Hun døde barnløs i 1799. Samuel var en godlynt og snill mann som gjord e godt mot de som hadde det vondt. Han eide hele Urnes og Kinsedal, så han hadde sagtens råd til å drive litt veldedighet.

    Han holdt et åpent og gjestfritt hus for embetsstanden i hele Sogn og var på mange måter en hjelpsom mann også for alle andre. Men det gikk ut over formuen, og han satt på slutten veldig vanskelig i det. Han hadde lest og studert langt mer enn de fleste på hans tid og han var særlig interessert i vår gamle historie. Han var god til å synge og var en spesielt god forteller om "gamledager" Lensmann Bugge var en uvanlig interessert og dyktig hagebruksmann. Han laget en fantastikk frukthage på Urnes. Den var i lange tider den største i Indre Sogn. Når han arbeidet med den var han alltid i godlage. Han likte også å fiske og tida falt ikke lang for dem som fikk være med ham ut på fjorden. Da sang han og fortalte både om nytt og gammelt. Han hadde gården fram til 1848, da han ga den til sønnen Samuel.
