    Olav etablerte seg i Dublin og kalte seg konge. Brødrene hans, Ivar og Sigtrygg erobret Limerick og Waterford. Disse stedene var handelsbyer og det bodde mange håndverkere der. I 1014 gikk den irske kongen Brian Borse, til kamp for å drive bort vi kingene. Sigurd den Fete falt i dette slaget, og Brian ble drept mens han bad.
