Han søttet kravet fra Macbeth, som regjerte i Skotland fra 1040-1057 om kongkronen i Skotland , og hans datter giftet seg med Kong Malcolm 3. Da han døde gikk Caithness og Sutherland tilbake til det skotske kongedømmet.
