    Victoria, 1819-1901 Dronning av Storbritannia og Irland 1837-1901, kong Olavs oldemor. Hun var datter av Georg 3.s fjerde sønn hertug Edward av Kent og prinsesse Victoria av Sachsen-Coburg-Saalfeld. Da hennes onkel, Vilhelm 4., døde 1837, ble Vi ctoria regjerende dronning. I 1840 giftet hun seg med prins Albert av Sachsen-Coburg-Gotha (1819-61). Ekteskapet var meget lykkelig, og de fikk ni barn, deriblant Edvard 7. Etter prins Alberts død 1861 isolerte Victoria seg i mange år i Windsor sl ott utenfor London, mens mye av forpliktelsene ble overlatt tronfølgeren Edvard. Dronning Victoria ble under den nye imperialismen et symbol på imperiets enhet. 1877 tok hun tittelen keiserinne av India. Hennes interesse for utenrikspolitikk skyldtes bl.a. nære familieforbindelser med en rekke fyrstehus, bl.a. det danske, de t tyske og det russiske.

    Edvard 7., 1841-1910 Konge av England og Irland, keiser av India 1901-10, kong Olavs bestefar. Edvard var eldste sønn av dronning Victoria og prins Albert av Sachsen-Coburg-Gotha, gift 1863 med prinsesse Alexandra av Danmark. Han residerte nærme re førti år som prins av Wales på slottet Sandringham. Da dronning Victoria etter Alberts død 1861 levde et tilbaketrukket liv, overtok Edvard mange representasjonsplikter og vant stor popularitet. Edvard interesserte seg sterkt for utenrikspoliti kk og hadde personlig kjennskap til andre lands fyrster og statsmenn. Han hadde stor sympati for Frankrike og mislikte sin nevø Wilhelm 2. i Tyskland. Edvard var far til bl.a. sin etterfølger Georg 5. og dronning Maud av Norge
