    Han fikk altså formelt gården to år etter at faren døde. Enten har moren drevet gården alene en tid, eller hun har giftet seg igjen og stefaren til Jon har drevt gården. Det siste er lite sansnynlig, ettersom Jon overtok det formelle eierskap da han bare var 11 år gammel, antakelig rett etter at ble komfirmert. Han var først gift med Guri Andersdtr Fystro, som bare var 19 år da hun giftet med Jon. De hadde sønnen Ole (1770-1771). Guri døde samtidig med sønnen sin i 1771. Jon giftet seg 2.gang i 1772 med Kari Øysteinsdtr Rudi, og de fikk barna: Ole (1873-1878), Øystein (1877-1933), Ole (1879-1917) grb på Kvåle, og Jon (1884- ) han var forretnngsmann i Oslo, han hadde bl.a. sønen Jon Qvale som ble politimester i Bærum.
