    Med Knut kom Maristuen til å utvikle seg fra et kombinert gårdbruk med skyssstasjon og gjestgivervirksomhet til et moderne hotell. Etter tjeneste i hjemmestyrkene under krigen ble han offiser i hæren på Voss og tok med seg familien dit.
