  1. 1.  Saint William of Gellone, , Duke of Toulouse and Marquis of Septimania died in 803-812.

    Notes:

    He lead the Frankish forces at the siege and capture of Barcelona in 801-803. He founded the Benedictine monastery of Gellone, which prospered later as a stop of the route taken by pilgrims to Compostela. The monastery was renamed after its founder, Saint Guilhem le Désert. Original columns from the "new cloisters" at Saint Guilhem le Désert, ca. 1200, are now part of The Cloisters, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City. William was the figure on whom William of Orange in the chansons de geste is based. Guibour (or Witburg) was his second wife.
