- Stephen Jenks was a composer, teacher of psalmody, chorister, and maker of drums and tambourines. He wrote several published books of hymn tunes and was an itinerant singing master in Fairfield County, Connecticut in the early 1800's. He and his first wife Hannah Dauchy had two boys. With his second wife, Rachel Travis, whom he married in 1801, they had three children. He and his third wife, Abigail Ross, had four children. [1]
