    Notes
    • She inherited 18 marks (1/4 kg) of butter in Ve, 1/2 skinn in Grihamar, 1/2 skinn 1 mål (1,000 square meters) and 9 poles in Grøv, and 4 1/2 dark butter and 1 mæle (about 16 liters) of barley in Asperheim in Årdal, the latter together with Ola Langeteig in Balestrand. They sold the latter in the 1600s to Ola Thommassen Asperheim.

When Marit became a widow, Sjugurd Knutsen Grøv (who was then working for her parents-in-law at Heen) sued his brother Andris K. Grøv and widow Marit O. Kjerstein (Ve) to find out how they had handled his alodial rights in Kjerstein when he was a minor. Frøholm wrote: "In her defense, Gudbrand Skogstad presented a purchase contract and Sjugurd would not raise a claim so long as Marit lived there as a widow, but he did not want to lose his rights. On the 12th of October 1706, he sued her again and swore that he was bankrupt and homeless when the case came before the court on the 12th of October 1706. Gudbrand Skogstad meant that Knut and Andris Grøv (Sjugurd's father and uncle) should have given widow Marit the 5 skins of mortgaged property at Hermundstad so that should would have a place to move to if she became homeless. Her husband had entrusted the 5 skins to them when he was Sjugurd's guardian."

The houses on the farm were taxed. Johannes had build a new cottage in the 1680s and the betterments were evaluated at 6 riksdollars. He had built a new barn and the improvements from the old fallen down barn were set at 4 riksdollars, a stall's value was sett at 3 riksdollars, while a new storehouse on posts where there had been no building before was evaluated at 8 riksdollars. The other houses were good and did not leak and were not taxed. Marit and the children did not dispute that Sjugurd was the right inheritor after his father Knut and grandfather Andris Erikson Kjerstein. Marit was to get the farm ready to move out next year (1708). She was to receive 304 riksdollars from Sjugurd for the farm and 23 riksdollars for the houses. They agreed that Marit could take the storage house.

Sjugurd borrowed 180 riksdollars from his older brother Andris Knutsen Grøv to make final payment for the farm. Andris kept the the farm as security until the money was paid.

It seemed that Marit never moved from the farm because in the same year that she should have moved, she died. The three youngest children that she and Johannes had -- Bergit (1684- ), Kari (1687- ) and Ola (1688 ) were unmarried and living on Kjerstein in 1708.
